When I went to a gig at Pryzm, Kingston, hosted by Banquet Records, it was a great experience that I found very accessible. Firstly, people with access tickets were let into the building before anyone else. We went into a room with plenty of space and plenty of seating to wait to go into the gig space. There was complete step-free access to the gig space and, again, we got let into the area before anyone else to be able to find the space we wanted and that suited our individual needs. There were plenty of seated areas / spaces for chairs which were all on the edge of balcony sections, and if you did not want to be seated there were still plenty of bannisters to lean on due to the slightly tiered nature of the venue. The venue is small anyway, but this all meant that you could get to the bannister safely and get a clear, unobstructed view no matter what your physical needs consisted of. The venue did get really hot during the performance; it was during a heatwave in London but I still found it to be manageable.

Additionally, I couldn’t contact Banquet Records to get an accessibility ticket until really last minute, yet they still did everything they could to make sure I got all the help I needed to be able to attend the gig. I really can’t fault their customer service, and it makes me feel really comfortable to be able to attend gigs hosted by Banquet Records in the future, whether it is at Pryzm or their other venues in Kingston. The toilets were accessible and had options for male, female, and gender-neutral facilities. There were no requirements for Covid testing or masks, but a lot of people in the audience and some staff members were wearing masks. To my knowledge, I don’t think there was a BSL interpreter present. All in all, my experience attending a Banquet Records gig went really well. I felt really comfortable and was able to see one of my favourite bands in an intimate setting. I would definitely recommend gigs with Banquet Records to other people with accessibility needs.
