I went to see The Breeders at The Wiltern in Los Angeles (USA). I looked on the website for accessibility information, nothing. I emailed beforehand, no answer. I called, no option on the menu. Seemed like the only option was to book a wheelchair spot (I don’t use a wheelchair). I went the day of the concert and asked staff how to get to my seat and they pointed to a staircase. Where’s the elevator? We don’t have one, this is an old venue. How many flights of stairs to my seat? Three. My friend went to get drinks as I braced myself for the slow painful ascent. I arrived upstairs and asked staff how to get to my seat. Vague instructions had me walking all around, going up and down, until I finally gave up and sat on the staircase. I was SO out of breath, couldn’t keep up. My friend came upstairs and looked for our seats. She waved when she found them and I went to meet her. Staff: Completely untrained, unhelpful. No accessibility info available through the website or ticketmaster. A total mess.
